The tyre market is a competitive place,
and can be confusing for the consumer on what tyre best suits their vehicle. Hopefully
our latest tyre test at carblogger will help in your decision making. We have
been testing a set of 235/60/18 Yokohama Advan Sport. They were fitted onto a Range Rover Evogue to
review in real world driving conditions. As it is fine to go around a test
track and report your findings, but most of us will not be driving our car in
this way.
Just a quick note before we start,
due to weather conditions all the tests were carried out in the dry. We started
out on some country lanes, where as expected these days, the roads had lots of
potholes and uneven worn surfaces. The Advan Sport managed to soak up most of
the potholes without them causing too much compromise to the ride quality. With
all the humps and bumps potential road noise intrusion to the cabin was also
kept to an acceptable level.
We then moved onto some faster A-roads,
and what was instantly noticeable is the Yokohama Advan were still good at keeping
road noise levels low in the car, even at the increased speeds. This was also
complemented by a smooth consistent ride quality, as well as providing the
driver with a good amount of grip and steeering feedback.
We then put the Advans through some cornering
and brake tests at various speeds, in keeping with both A and B road conditions.
The Yokohama tyres again performed well, providing the driver with plenty of
grip and control during cornering. Also while under braking during different
roads conditions and speeds they were equally efficient, stable and responsive.
Our final test was conducted on a
motorway and the amount of grip and feedback from the steering was positive.
This helps make for driver confidence in the tyre as travelling at motorway
speeds grip and feedback is a must. The amount of cabin noise had slightly
increased, but it was not enough to be distracting or annoying.
